Working remotely

The need for remote work and study has increased due to the situation caused by the corona virus outbreak.

Optima, Elmo Intranet, ASIO, and Office 365 services (like OneDrive and email) are available over the Internet without a remote desktop connection. Staff will get access to ASIO without remote work connection at week 12.

A separate remote work connection (remote.jamk.fi) should not be used except in these cases:

  • HR / Finance applications
  • Using Tweb service
  • HALKO – User rights management
  • Taito – recruitment services
  • Some databases provided by JAMK library
  • Special applications installed on remote desktop servers
  • Using H or M drives for compelling reasons

Because of the limited number of licenses available for remote.jamk.fi connections, it is possible that we have to restrict it’s usage to some limited user groups. For this reason, it is recommended that if you need access files on your H or M drives, you use the Webfile service to transfer files to your computer and then, after processing, to transfer files back to H or M drive using Webfile service again.

JAMK ICT services will be monitoring availability and usage of all IT services and we will increase resources if necessary and if possible.
