Zoom’s cloud recording service will be disabled on Friday 26.3. at 4 p.m

Zoom’s cloud recording service will be disabled on Friday 26.3. at 4 p.m. At the same time, the streaming feature of the meeting will also be removed, ie the streaming of the meeting to Youtube live, for example.

In the future, recording in Zoom will still be possible locally. If you want to share the recording, you can upload it to Panopto and share it from there. There will be detailed instructions available on how to do this later at JAMK’s Zoom instructions page. According to current information, previously saved recordings will remain in the cloud and can be accessed for their storage life cycle even after the change.

Instructions:
Local recording (Zoom, in English)
Uploading video to Panopto (Panopto, in English)

If needed, you can get support for the use of web conferencing programs from the e-learning designer of your department.

Why is this happening?

Unfortunately, we at Jamk can’t influence this in any way, since the Zoom service is purchased from a 3rd party. CSC announced the end of life for the additional capacity of the AWS used in the cloud service, which means that users will be transferred from the licensed side to the so-called on-Prem side and thus lose the ability for cloud recordings. Our students are already on the on-prem side.
